BetterPaste needs macOS permission to monitor the clipboard. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, confirm BetterPaste is listed and enabled, then quit and reopen the app. macOS sometimes requires a restart of the application before a newly granted permission takes effect.
That is the retention window doing its job. BetterPaste keeps items for a set period of time and then discards them. If things are vanishing sooner than you would like, open settings and increase the retention duration.
Another application may have claimed the same shortcut — this is the most common cause by a wide margin. Open BetterPaste's settings and assign a different combination to confirm. If a new shortcut works, the original was being intercepted upstream.
No, and this is intentional rather than a limitation we plan to remove. Syncing would require sending your clipboard contents off your machine, and we've chosen not to build that. See the privacy policy for our reasoning.
Clear the entire history from BetterPaste's menu, or remove individual entries from the panel. History is stored only on your Mac, so clearing it there removes it completely — there is no copy anywhere else for us to delete.
BetterPaste records whatever you copy, so a password or account number you copied will be in your history until it ages out of the retention window. Clear your history from the app if you want it gone immediately.
Quit BetterPaste and drag it from your Applications folder to the Trash. Its stored history goes with it.
If you believe you have found a security or privacy vulnerability, please write to support@iterative.design with the details rather than posting publicly. We will acknowledge your report and keep you updated on the fix.
